SpamTextFun

Spam texts bug you all day. Now you can bug them back.

Send us a spam text you got, and one of our AI characters answers the spammer. Earl the llama farmer can talk for as long as they want to stick around, and you get on with your day.

Email us for early access

We're opening SpamTextFun in early access. Send that email and we'll write back with your invite and our number.

A text from an unknown number, filtered as Maybe Spam. It says: Hey Doug, it's Seth from Fast Track. I have 200k PB 236k and LOCs up to 4 years. I can go up to 5M. What's your email? I'll send more info.

5M would be perfect, Seth. That buys 2 planes and about 400 llamas. Do the llamas need their own email?

The gray text is one I really got. The green reply is a sample we wrote for Earl to show the idea.

How it works

  1. Join by text.

Text JOIN to the number in your early access invite. We text back to confirm, and you can reply STOP any time.

  2. Screenshot the spam text.

Open the text and click the number at the top so the full number shows. Then take a screenshot.

  3. Text the screenshot to us.

Send it to our number like you'd text anyone else.

  4. Pick who answers.

We text you a short list of characters, and you reply with the number of the one you want.

  5. Click the link and hit Send.

We text you a link. It opens a message to the spammer that says "Use my other cell" and gives our number.

  6. Block them and read the show.

Block the spammer's number on your iPhone. When they text our number, your character answers, and we send you a link to read the conversation.

Pick who answers

We wrote these sample conversations to show the idea.

Earl

A llama farmer who wants $5M to start a llama airline.

What's your email? I'll send more info.

It's earl@llamas. I have no computer, so please fax it to the barn.

Grandma Dot

She thinks the broker is her nephew and she keeps asking about Thanksgiving.

Can I run numbers on a revolving line for you?

Kevin, is that you? Your mother says you still owe her for the ham.

The Closer

He's ready to sign and he's always one document away.

Can you send your last 3 bank statements?

Absolutely. They're on my desk right now. I just need to find my desk.

Gary

He only negotiates in pirate.

How much funding do you need?

Arr. 12 doubloons and not a penny more. What be the payback on a ship?

A text from an unknown number, filtered as Maybe Spam. It says: Hi Doug, this is Marissa. I'm a PR researcher. I wanted to get in touch about a feature-based opportunity to profile you in Newsweek and IBT.

Why I'm building this

I'm Doug, and I run a small business. My phone keeps collecting texts like this one, from strangers who already know my first name. Seth wants to lend me up to $5M, and Marissa wants to put me in Newsweek.

If you own a small business, you probably get them too. Deleting them gets old, so I started wondering what would happen if somebody answered. Every minute a spammer spends talking to Earl is a minute they're talking to a llama farmer who doesn't exist, and I think that's pretty funny.
